Young and old.

Modern and traditional. New perspectives and knowing what to expect. Fresh ideas and years of experience. The latest trends and the paved roads.

I was visiting Korea for a few days, and I realised how often we feel these concepts are contradicting in business.

Whatever side we’re on, we feel pressured by the other side.

Old is threatened by young.

Fresh ideas are intimidated by years of experience.

Modern is valued over traditional.

Known outcomes curb new perspectives.

Latest trends challenge the paved roads.

But if you look at the architecture in Seoul, you see they can coexist effortlessly. Beautiful centuries-old palaces stand proudly surrounded by modern skyscrapers of the latest high tech brands.

By coexisting, they complement each other. Because only when you see them next to each other, the differences are highlighted.

Then you see they bring out the best in each other.

So let the contradictions in. Appreciate them.

Because it is in the differences, that the value lies.
