Gratitude is underrated.

Do you say ‘thank you’ enough? For the big things, and for the small things?

For the effort.

For a smile.

For a compliment.

For just being there.

Gratitude is an extremely powerful but underused emotion.

Firstly, it makes everybody feel good. The receiver. The giver. The observers. Smiles all around.

Secondly, positive psychology links gratitude to more lasting effects: social, physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing are all enhanced when you take time to appreciate what happens around you.

But most importantly, a gratitude-mindset helps you focus on the good things in life.

To acknowledge the positive.

To emphasise that there is something to appreciate. Something to make life worth living.

Isn’t that just what it's all about?

The nice thing is, gratitude can be practiced. That sense of appreciation and thankfulness, it can be enhanced through awareness and practice.

So write those thank-you cards and wrap those little appreciation presents.

You’ll thank me later ;)
